hi.. i visited tim yao's blog again. and here is something interesting. i know its not really nice to copy and paste someone else's blog entries, but its really worth thinking.. so, please gie ur valuable comments! :D

'i read something quite controversial today. i'll give you guys TWO scriptures and ask you to post your thoughts on what they mean - please respond, i really want to know.

Romans 9:13 - "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau haev i hated"

Malachi 1:3 - "And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness."

Proverbs 6:16 - "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him... (v19)A false witness that speaketh lies,and he that soweth discord among brethren."

my question: does God have the capacity to hate people? i'll be revolutionary and say "yes", based on those two scriptures. before you tell me to check the original greek and hebrew words used in context, i'll tell you i have:

in the Greek, the word "hate" used in Romans means simplyto detest (especially to persecute)

and in the Hebrew, the word "hate" used in Malachi and Proverbs means simplyto hate personallyscary huh?

i'm pretty sure the writers of both verses left no doubt about what they meant when they used the specific word "hate". ok someone answer the million dollar question please - is it possible that a God of love can also be a God capable of hate, based on the scriptures above? and if so, how can someone become "hated" by God?

how interesting that it can be that God mite possibly hate someone... we are never taught that at church are we..? '

im afraid to give much comments. lately, i've come to realised how little i know about this great God of ours. but simply putting it, i still believe that God is a loving God. he would be angry and disappointed with us, but to hate?? its simply too hard to believe, since God's word said that : 'God is love', isnt it?

anyone have anything to say. maybe im wrong. i do not know. thats where u guys come in. :D
